  • Salida has been down

It appears the Salida site has been down for some months (October is our best guess) and we didn’t realize it.  We had two reports come in this week confirming it is indeed down.  It appears to be a PA issue as it can only be heard weakly with  a very good antenna.  That is a site that is only practically accessible during the summer, so will be down for a bit.

  • Leadville back online!

The solar power issue has been improving enough to allow bringing the repeater back online.  We are monitoring battery status regularly to make sure it stays OK.  If power drops again for some reason we may have to take the repeater offline again, but at least for now all is good.

  • Leadville Repeater Offline

We appear to have lost power at the Leadville site.  This appears to not be limited to just the Colorado Connection.  Alas this is a site that is not practically accessible until snowmelt, so repairs may be as late as July 2021.  It is also a microwave relay site to the western slope repeaters.  Microwave is still currently operational, but if it fails too, we have commercial internet backup.

  • COS back online

Luckily a short power outage this time.  COS is re-connected to the rest of the system.

  • COS Unlinked again

We have had another power failure at our Almagre site that is our link between Colorado Springs an the rest of the system.  The repeater is working, but in local mode only.  This emphasizes the importance of our Winter-2020 project to add redundancy to our link between COS and the rest of the system.

  • Winter 2020 Plans!

With summer officially over we are turning out attention to our winter-accessible repeaters.  Our focus for this winter is a significant upgrade to the Colorado Springs site capabilities.  See the “Plans – Winter 2020” tab at the top for details.

  • Fort Collins repeater down temporarily

We noted today the machine was having issues, so have temporarily shut it down.  We expect it to be back up (and better!!) by the end of Thanksgiving weekend.

  • Colorado Springs back online!

With other equipment at that site working but not ours, we assumed it was an equipment failure, not power.  Best guess now is that it was one phase of the power failing and we were on that phase.  In any event, the link is back up and Colorado Springs is back online!  A trip is still being planned, just not as urgent as it was.

  • Colorado Springs Offline

The microwave relay site connecting Colorado Springs to the rest of the system has gone offline.  This means the COS repeater is working, but for local traffic only.  Short of a spontaneous recover, it will take a site visit to repair with plans to do this being made.  We will update you as plans evolve.

  • Grand Junction back on Microwave Backbone

The microwave link to Grand Junction has been restored.  We had a backup link, but it wasn’t as reliable, so now the  link should be fully reliable.
