We ap­pear to have lost power at the Lead­ville site. This ap­pears to not be li­mited to just the Col­orado Con­nec­tion. Alas this is a site that is not prac­tical­ly ac­cessib­le until snow­melt, so re­pairs may be as late as July 2021. It is also a micro­wave relay site to the wes­tern slope re­peat­ers. Micro­wave is still cur­rent­ly op­eration­al, but if it fails too, we have com­mer­ci­al in­ter­net bac­kup.

Luc­ki­ly a short power outage this time. COS is re-connected to the rest of the sys­tem.

We have had an­oth­er power failure at our Al­mag­re site that is our link bet­ween Col­orado Spr­ings an the rest of the sys­tem. The re­peat­er is work­ing, but in local mode only. This em­phasizes the im­por­tance of our Winter-2020 pro­ject to add re­dun­dan­cy to our link bet­ween COS and the rest of the sys­tem.

With summ­er of­ficial­ly over we are turn­ing out at­ten­tion to our winter-accessible re­peat­ers. Our focus for this wint­er is a sig­nificant upgrade to the Col­orado Spr­ings site capabilit­ies. See the “Plans – Wint­er 2020” tab at the top for de­tails.

We noted today the mac­hine was hav­ing is­sues, so have tem­porari­ly shut it down. We ex­pect it to be back up (and bet­t­er!!) by the end of Thanksgiv­ing weekend.

With other equip­ment at that site work­ing but not ours, we as­sumed it was an equip­ment failure, not power. Best guess now is that it was one phase of the power fail­ing and we were on that phase. In any event, the link is back up and Col­orado Spr­ings is back on­line! A trip is still being plan­ned, just not as ur­gent as it was.

The micro­wave relay site con­nect­ing Col­orado Spr­ings to the rest of the sys­tem has gone of­fline. This means the COS re­peat­er is work­ing, but for local traf­fic only. Short of a spon­tane­ous re­cov­er, it will take a site visit to re­pair with plans to do this being made. We will up­date you as plans evol­ve.

The micro­wave link to Grand Junc­tion has been re­stored. We had a bac­kup link, but it wasn’t as re­li­able, so now the link should be fully re­li­able.

Many of you may have noticed that the re­ceiv­ers for Mt. Thorodin are going of­fline for brief per­iods. The issue has been isolated to a tim­ing issue with the vot­ing re­ceiv­ers. The re­place­ment hardware is ready, but is dif­ferent, so we need some time to burn in be­fore we take it to the re­peat­er site. We don’t want to make the pro­blem worse!

The Wald­en site had been mis-reported as work­ing but of­fline. The status is ac­tual­ly work­ing, but not for local-local com­munica­tion. It is li­nked into the sys­tem, but in simplex mode only, so not use­ful for talk­ing to other re­peat­ers, just not for two peo­ple in/near Wald­en.
